Taiwan attends WHA in first time

Taiwan in the name of Chinese Taipei, as the observer, has been invited to attend WHA which will be held in Genevese next month, the administrator of Taiwan Health Department Ye Jinchuan announced yesterday.

Taiwan received the invitation from WHA after a case of crabs in last 12 years, since eased the tension of cross-straits relations from this year. It is also the first time Taiwan received invitation to present at the event under Unit Nation System after his withdrawal from UN for 38 years in 1971, which is considered as breakthrough in diplomacy.

Whether Taiwan can attend the WHA is involved in a tender subject 'One China" with great concern, which is not only related to mutual trust across Straits and the trend of relationship in the future, but make a examination of "Taiwan Official's" diplomacy.

Attending WHA is the first negotiation refering to sovereignty issues caught through between China mainland and Taiwan, which implies that Cross-Strait made the first move of political issues consultation.

"Taiwan can attend the WHA this time smoothly as China mainland Officials dispel goodwill, and another reason is our activated diplomatic policy aimed to improve the relation with mainland ", Ma Yingjiu "President of Taiwan' said.

Ye also mentioned that Taiwan made first stride, and he will attend WHA with 15 officials including 12 health officers.
