Travel Train joins China and North Korea closely

Recently, an railway travel route was settled from Tumen, Jilin Province of China, to Nanyang, Qingjing and Qibaoshan of North Korea as the first travel train between these two countries, which was released after a signed contract of travel cooperation between Tumen Government and related department of North Korea.

The travel route is proposed to run at the end of May according to the contract, which also make clear of responsibility between two sides, including bodywork of train, railway roadbed, rail maintenance, catering for Chinese tourists, assurance of vehicles safety, and runtime, running district and distance of travel special train. Based on the principle of reciprocity and mutual benefit, both countries have roughly reach a consistence referring to price and time.

Tumen city of Jilin province, located at the downstream of Tumen river, Northeast of China, known as "the first city besides Tumen River", where is surrounding by mountain and river remarked its beautiful scene and sequester nature.

As the port city of border between China and North Korea, Tumen is only city in Jilin province for international transportation of both travellers and goods, joined with North Korean by highway and railway. Tumen port is not only the biggest continental port of commercial with North Korea, but is a very important multi-trade port transferring materials within China, North Korea, Russia and Japan.

In 1985, Tumen was authorized as Class A border city officially and approved as economic developing area by Jilin province 1992. Of 132 thousand population, the Korean Nationality is accounting for 55.7% in Tumen, known as the famous "village of long-drum dance".
